This film started life watching a game of Air Ping Pong at a festival in 2008. At the same festival 9 years later, I saw the Turbans play an unforgettable set. As a director I'm inspired by the concept of 'negative white space'. I aim to create characters that aren't actually there. 'Negative white space' is a central theme to my work. Part of watching a film is to suspend belief and accepting what's put in front of you. 'Creating something that isn't there' forces the viewer to use their imagination. This is a delightful thing to do. I'm not showing you who the Wingman is, in the same what that you weren't shown who 'the Hand' was. I'm giving you, the viewer 2 plus 2 and letting you arrive at the answer, which we all know is four, it just happens to be our own individual version of four.
